Smash-Book / Art Journal 2017

HAppy New Year Everyone....

As most everyone knows, over the past few years, I have changed my opinion about making new year resolutions and
how quickly they can become triggers for feelings of failure.
So going forward I would like to focus on a couple of things I have learned over this past year and share positives from this past year:
--- joining the world of working mom's, I learned that it was a great avenue to share my charity events, but I also discovered how easy it is to get caught up in the working world and let the other important things in your life slip into second place.
--- I also learned that even as good as you are at time management, when you are not the only one in charge of your time you have no promise.
Positive Things:
*** Our Pennies for Heaven Jar (Donated to Charity) ~ $13.77
*** Weight Lost over year ~ 16 pounds
*** We added another granddaughter
*** We reached our temple goal
*** We crossed several fun things off our bucket list
*** Joined a bowling league .........lol!!!!!
And as part of my new year make-over I always start the year out with a new SMASH BOOK/ART JOURNAL/THOUGHT CATCHER. This year I am using the YM/YW theme scripture on the front. It is one of my favorites from my seminary days and it goes along with our topics of study this year.

WOYWW # 344 - Snowman Soup

I am so excited that with the coming of the new year I will have more time to spend at my Workdesk.

Today...

It took me most of the day to clear the Snowman Soup off my work desk.... I used the color combo challenge (CC564) that was posted on Splitcoast stampers yesterday. These make great hostess gifts or booking incentives. I am going to be using my as my visiting teaching treats for this month. Along with the card tag you will find a bag of goodies which consists of a hot chocolate package, a candy cane and a few marshmallows.

WOYWW #330 - Fall Fancies

Today, my "What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday" Projects made their way out to the deck, while I enjoyed some wonderful fall sunshine.

We are getting ready to decorate for Halloween tomorrow and I wanted to add a few new fall colors to the mix. Some new paper pumpkins and hostess gift bags...

Simplified Scrapbooking with Floorplans - SC#9

Okay... well this class was not new to me but, I prefer to use the word "SKETCHES" instead of floorplans, but what ever word you use, a sketch or floorplan makes creating a layout simpler, faster and easier. Often we use these at crops as a way to spend the time getting a lot of pages completed in a short amount of time. There are lots of companies the offer pre-made sketches and all you have to do is place your photos, especially in the digital world.
Now me, on the other hand, enjoy playing with my paper and creating a layout from start to finish. Time spent on my layout is what we often joke about in the crafter's world as ART THERAPY.

Sale-A-Bration & Hostess Appreciation...

This year I decided to kick-off  SU! Sale-A-Bration  with a Hostess Appreciation night... But since most of my Hostess are all from New England, I decided to have a Virtual Hostess Party. We had a lot of fun, yesterday... I sent them all a package with their supplies and then we all logged on together and made our altered notebooks and talked about our goals and challenges for the up coming year. I gave them my recruiting pitch and invited them all back for another party in the spring... Which I call the SPRING FLING!

Here is what we made...

The directions & details are very simple...
You need:
1- 6 x 11 piece of solid card stock (scored at 3 1/2, 3 3/4 & 7 1/2,)
Cut on the diagonal from top to bottom from the 7 1/2 score to the edge of the paper. You can see it in the picture but remember you are looking at it already folded in and attached with the sticky strip. This becomes the flap or pocket that you slide the back of the notebook into.
1- 5 1/2 x 3 1/4 piece of solid card stock (for the front)
1- 3 x 3 piece of coordinating designer paper (for the front)
1- 2 1/2 x 3 piece of white card stock (stamped with image, for the front)
1- 3 1/4 x 1/1/2 piece of solid card stock (for inside tag)
1 - 1 x 3 piece of white card stock (stamped with message for inside tag)
1 - 1 3/4 punched circle, I used scalloped edge punch (stamped with "Notes" for the front)
24 - inches of ribbon (I wrapped mine from front to back and left extra for tieing)
8 - inches of paper ribbon for front embellishment (I wrapped mine from front to back)
1- prima flower
1- rhinestone brad
3- buttons or other accents & embellishments
1 - 3 1/2 x 5 lined post-it notebook.
Sticky strip tape
glue dots
snail adhesive

I hope this all makes sense... I wish I could have been able to make a video while I was make these, it would have been easier, but if you have any questions please let me know. I will be glad to help and answer any that you have.

ENJOY!!!!!

Snowman Soup

Does anyone know how many crazy snowmen it takes to make one cup of soup....???? Well, alot! hehehehehe

My Snowmen Soup were a big hit last night. I sold all ten packages, 12 cheesecakes and several bags of reindeer poop.... plus several other items. It was a great Vendor Fair this time. Here is an assorted sampling of my simmered goodies.
