WOYWW # 556 - “Make a Box”

It’s Wednesday and there just might be a little craftIng going on here at my work desk... I decided to spend a little time getting “Sunkissed” today as I jumped into the January “Make a box challenge” hosted by Graphic 45. #G45Box

This is a left-over tin box that I had laying around and using my new favorite paper “Sunkissed” collection by Graphic 45, I created a little treasure box for my granddaughter to hold all her seashells and treasures from our recent trip to the beach while on our cruise this past December.

While highlighting papers from Graphic 45, I accented with buttons, a frosted eggshell bow and little green brads. My technique used was paper piecing to bring out the elements on the top and to draw attention to the little poem that I love.

SCS JAN 2017 VSBN -&- CM's Virtual Crop

Third day snowing here at the canyon... It was a perfect Super Saturday Scrapbook Day. Creative Memories hosted a fantastic virtual crop today and I completed lots of paGes and layouts. I decided to combine our VSBN challenges with the crop challenges and I finally got through my crafters block and finished a few layouts...
VSBN#1 - New Dresses
This one is of my granddaughters in their new dresses. I made this page for grandpa for Valentine's Day.
(CM Virtual Crop #3 & #5)

VSBN#2 - Birthday Boy
I am playing catch up in my boy's scrapbooks... This DPS is for my son's 4th birthday.
Our VSBN challenge for this page was to use our stash and add elements that work with the word "BEGIN"
                                       B - Birthday, Balloons, Blue
                         E - Edges, Eyelets
            G - Green,
       I - Ink,
                          N- Nice Boys... Lol
(CM's Jan Virtual Crop #4)

VSBN#3 - P's 1st Birthday
I decided to stay with the new/firsts/beginning theme for this layout. Great sketch with easy story flow..(CM's Jan Virtual Crop - Bonus Challenge)

Keeping with the VSBN theme... This my was first time trying Gormet Chicken & Waffles.

This page is for the inspirational photo challenge and I chose the colors from the photo.

May VSBN - Super Saturday 1

Our first Challenge for our May VSBN was to scrap-lift one of my favorite digi-scrappers, Wendy. So in honor of all the hard work she does to sharing the digi world with us, I created my page as a digi page and the layout of her's that I cased can be found here

This was the second challenge for VSBN and it was an inspirational challenge. I really liked how the bold bright colors of the crayons stood out against the black background and I also like how the tips of the crayons and how they all point to the same direction to help create a focal point. So on my layout you can find bold colors mixed in with black and also points that bring your attention to the focal point of my page.

Our third challenge was designed to be a four picture sketch challenge and I only had three pictures of each boy. So my pages may not count for this challenge, but I really enjoyed using the Simply Scrappin' Kit. It has been awhile since I totally scrapped from a kit.

I loved the openness of our fourth challenge. It was fun to be able to be creative with all the spring colors. This layout was a CASE that I came a crossed in an old SU! Catalog.

"Cracking The Case" Crop & Shop

We had a big mystery party Saturday for our crop & shop. The Theme was "Cracking the C.A.S.E." All we were allowed to bring with us was two simply scrappin' kits, one spool of matching ribbon and brads, photos, a old mini catalog and white or vanilla card stock.

For the first part of the day or challenge was to find a scrapbook page in our old catalog that we liked and case it. But the catch was we had to "crack it" by solving the clues.... A little at a time! (We had to build our page a little at a time, just like a good old fashioned progressive page. First we made a 6x6, then 8 1/2 x11, followed up by making that into a 12x12, then finishing up by adding a second page. We had a lot of fun... The Hostess added in little fun mystery trivia games that kept the party alive and active.

For the second part of the day...our challenge was to start at the beginning of our old mini catalog, page by page and if we liked what we saw then we were to case it! Using only the supplies that we had brought with us. Everyone needs try this, at least just once... I got so many goodies made, not all of them were scrapbook layouts, but still fun. One thing, I might add is that we had access to the hostess' big shot, die cuts and punches.

Super Saturday...

We are still working on our progressive pages... Today we are going to turn our 81/2 X 11 into a 12 X 12.

STEP #3:

Now we build our 12X12...
Supplies needed:

1 - completed 8 1/2 X 11 page
1 - 12 X 12 cardstock (Green Galore)
1 - 2 1/2 X 3 1/4 cardstock (Yo-Yo Yellow)
1 - 2 X 6 cardstock (Tempting Turquoise)
1 - 1 3/4 X 5 3/4 white cardstock
1 - 2 1/4 X 3 photo
Stamp Set - "Quirky Alphabet Upper"
Ink Pad - Tempting Turquoise
Accessories: buttons, glue dots

After mounting your 81/2 X 11 page onto your 12 X 12 background sheet, keeping your 6 X6 as your focal point, add the rest of the journaling and a few more accents. And Voila'! You have an awesome looking progressive page.

Next week I will share some tips on how to work this page into a DPS (Double Page Spread).

Super Saturday...

Super Saturday is a day that I wanted to set aside for advanced style scrapping... This will be a spot for use to discuss and to share ongoing scrapping projects. Many people have asked me about how I start and complete my progressive pages. So let's start there...

STEP #1:
I find that when starting at square one with a lot of new and beginning scrappers that it is easier to start with a progressive page. Sometimes a big, huge empty piece of 12X12 cardstock may be a bit overwhelming. So I always start with the story "How do you eat an Elephant?" Answer: "One bite at a time!"
Then we start with a 6X6 page...
Supplies needed:  (The colors I used are in the parenthesis )

1 - 6X6 colored cardstock (Tempting Turquoise)
1 - 4 1/4 X 5 1/4 colored cardstock (Green Galore)
1 - 2 X 81/2 white cardstock
1 - 2X2 colored cardstock (Yo-Yo Yellow)
1 - 4X5 photo
Stamp Set - "Let's Party"
Ink Pads - Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore
Accessories: silver craft wire, label punch, deminsionals

Your Challenge is to create a 6X6 page that we will use next week... KEYWORD: APSS01
