WOYWW#274 - Inspirational Backpacks

Today, finds me still in a state of recuperation from being in Utah for the past couple of weeks for family stuff and my grandmother's funeral. With a semi-clean work space and a lot of gratitude in my heart for the huge inspiration and influence that my grandmother had in my life, I was looking for something fun to share with my friends, I came a crossed some really cute little backpack with mini albums featured at Graphic 45.  I decided they would make some fun little gift bags for the ladies that I visit this month. Our theme this month is..."The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ: Comforter" and I thought it would be fun to fill the little backpacks with small inspirational words of wisdom that my ladies could pull out and read as the month goes along.

Make-Over Monday... "Back to School" Snack Mix

Fall is in the air and today is the last big summer type holiday here at the beach. Having been a Teacher for many years and now finding myself with a lot of spare time on the computer I have discovered that I want to munch more, therefore I gain weight fast. So, I thought for today to kickoff our new Annie's Pantry format, we would start out with a fun, new, healthy, "Back to School" snack that is great for all ages. I love this snack both from a teacher and a snacker's point of view. It is very low-cal and totally nut free, its a great snack for the whole family and can be safely taken into the classroom.

Quick & Easy Snack Mix
 Makes:16 (1/2-cup) servings

4 cups air popped popcorn
1 cup raisin bran
2 cups TEDDY GRAHAMS Graham Snacks, any flavor
1 cup diced dried fruit mix (We like the tropical mix)
MIX all ingredients in large bowl.
Store in airtight container or ziplock bag.

Please feel free to share your Family's favorite "Back to school snack". And to add a little fun for the day...I
challenge you to find inspiration in the colors of your snack and create a "Labor Day" Card to share. When I think of Labor day I think about all the hard working people in the world around me. Today, I was challenged to use an animal in my Labor Day card, so I choose the Elephant!

Parker's Pumpkns - 2009

I had the pleasure of scraplifting Ann (scrappy48) this month and the page I choose was SBSC290 Girl Scouts (http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...48?&cat=25168). My page turned out more of a layout inspired by all her bold shapes and journaling than an actual scraplift. She had so many pages to choose from it was hard to decide... :)

Just A Pinch of Salt...

At Splitcoast Stampers we started a new Challenge thread entitled "It All Happened In... JUNE!"

Each month this challenge will change, based on the month, to inspire us to celebrate the Month we're in by getting out those pictures for that month, this month it is June....whether we use current, last year or some years ago photos, our goal is to get the month of Scrapped.

This month I choose to have fun on National Donut Day. We celebrated the day with homemade Salted Caramel Donuts.

The second page of the recipe on my layout reads...
  •  Lightly spray pan.And set aside. In bowl shift flour, cocoa , baking soda, and baking powder. Mix in sugar and salt, add in butter using your fingers to blend everything together. In a small bowl, mix egg, buttermilk and vanilla. Then add to flour mix and fold together.
  •  Pour batter in donut pan so that it's 1/2 full and bake for 8-10 mins.
  •  Once bake take out and cool. After it has cool, drizzle caramel sauce over donuts and sprinkle sea salt and crumbled bacon over the top.

Lion King Love

This months variety challenge was based on the Lion King Movie & song lyrics. I choose "Can you feel the love tonight" because my photos are actually from an evening when of dancing and we were actually dancing to that song... :)

WOYWW - #261

You will find me in St. Louis this week and my desk is filled with the real Sugar Baby instead of just photos. Today is her momma's birthday and I came to give her a birthday break... We made her favorite cupcakes, cleaned her kitchen, made her this pretty birthday card and had some awesome grandma time, all while daddy took momma out for a much needed break of date, lunch and movie. I feel so blessed to be able to have a "Workdesk" where ever I want it to be.

  2. Add a paper on top that is approx. 11” (or if using a different size than 12x12, make this layer ½” smaller on all four sides.) [A color lighter than base paper and not too busy is suggested.] Add shadow.
  3. About 5”down from page top and approx. 2” from left edge, place a piece of paper that is approx. 8-8 ½’ w. x 3” h. (plain or patterned ). Add shadow.
That's it for this week!

WOYWW ~ 259

Mother's Day surprises:
Last week, I was not at my desk because our oldest son flew in on Tuesday for a belated Mother's Day and we spent Wednesday making cheese together. If you would like to check out the photos of fun we had, you can find them on my food blog at The Pantry Life

My Inside Craft Desk:

Today, my inside craft desk is cluttered with scraps left over from my two day online scrapbook class. The class was entitled "Scrapbook Your Story" by Lain Ehmann on Creative Live. Great class, I sort of went into it thinking that because I have scrapbooked for over 30 years, I probably won't learn anything new, but it turned out to be a very informational and mojo building class.

 My New Outdoor Crafting Place:
I live at the beach and love to work outside where I can watch and hear the ocean. This past weekend we created a spot on my front porch where I can craft, relax and play with flowers. On a sad note... The flower arrangements came before the crafting this week. The flowers that are included in the photo are some of the bouquets that were for the funeral of a dear friend of mine who lost her battle to cancer over the weekend and her "celebration of life" was today.

Hanging out with all of us:

WOYWW#257

As you can see my desk is piled high today... This is due to the fact that everything from my VSN & VSBN weekend got moved from the table to my desk. I do have a plan and idea for a few things I want to make today. I am hoping that my layout and card stock is here on my desk somewhere, but I have to go grout the new tile in my bathroom first...  We are in the middle of a remodel. :(

Okay, Tile done... Now to play!

So here are the items I got completed, the card is for my son... it is his 21st Birthday today. Today, I want to play with basic black, Tempting Tourquiouse and White. I found a really cool card on Pinterest that I really wanted like to CASE and I have another VSBN layout I am working on.

• 2 wooden shapes
• 3 buttons
• 4 pieces of embroidery

WOYWW #255

After spending my "March Madness" reorganizing from my Crafter's Clutter Break down, I spent the fist two days of this week relishing in the thoughts of how nice and tidy my workspace looked and tring to fing something that would trigger my mojo enough to want to create a mess on my desk. Today, I figured it out!

So.... Here is what I am working on this afternoon.

Crafter's Clutter Break Down...

I think I may have had a crafters clutter break down, kind of like a nervous break down... I got so tried of every time I wanted to make a card or scrapbook page, I couldn't find any of my stuff. So after I got back from St.Louis, I turned my whole house up side down and reorganized the whole thing. NO KIDDING!!! The OCD side of me got started and didn't stop until every room was clean and organized top to bottom.
