Art Journaling... My Start!

MY fascination with "ART JOURNALING" started back in January while I spent the month recovering from the start of CHF... I didn't have anything better to do, I guess. (Lol)
Anyway, after discovering an awesome online magazine entitled "heART JOURNALING" is discovered a deep seeded interest to peruse this avenue of art, thinking how hard can this be? I love to write, I have been an off and on journal keeper since high school, I live for family histories and as any of my close crafting and scrapbooking friends can tell you, I have failed the "12 step program for Paperahololics" (another lol) so many times that I now give motivational classes on how to craft, stamp and create your way into a balanced household.
So here we are five months later and my Art Journal as created a major "writer's /Artist block" for me! Not sure why, except I think that I am so afraid of it not being perfect, or the overwhelming feeling that I can't doodle the whole page full, that somewhere between my mind and my hands, I am caught up in the stage of the outcome....
But Today was the day that I made it past the glitches of mistakes and was able create a small tidbit of ART to make a..... (You guessed it! )..... a PAPER Card.

WOYWW #308 - Grandma's Desk

My "What's on my Workdesk" Wednesday's took on a whole new
meaning a couple of weeks ago when my hubby and I went to see his brother and pick up a few family things that have been in storage. To our wonderful surprise, his grandmother's desk was included among the things that were left to him. I fell in love with this desk the first time I saw it. I am so excited to add it to our memories....

Here is the scrapbook page I have been working on today.

Farm Colored Birthday

Our Teapot Tuesday Challenge was to create a card that reminded us of being down on the Farm. for me growing up and being down on the farm reminds me of all the rich fall colors and the beautiful wild daisies that grow in the fields and along the ditch banks.
I also used this card as my sample card for my Relief Society Personal Enrichment Class this evening.

Celebrating International PI day...

Always love a good excuse to celebrate with PIE... And every year we choose a new pie recipe to feature. This year we chose totally homemade WHITE CHOCOLATE SHAMROCK PIE. And of course it wouldn't be a celebration if you don't make a card to go with it....

You can find the recipe for the pie on our blog at www.thepantrylife.blogspot.com

Rockin' The Disney Boat - March's Progressive Page

Here is my take for March - Task 1

Note: Although dimensions stated are for a 12x12 page, feel free to make any size you prefer. We'll be using one photo for this layout.

-Start with a base paper (paper #1). It can be plain or have a light pattern.

-Add paper #2 (approx.6"x12") on top of base layer (paper #1). Offset it so it is about 2"-2 ½" up from bottom edge.

-Add a photo (approx. 4"x6") on upper left area of the page, that's mostly on paper #2, but overlaps up onto paper #1 a little. Mat the photo, making mat a bit larger than the photo (1/2"-3/4") and offset the mat a little to one side. (Don't forget shadows where applicable.)

Task 2 - This is my take on step 2 of this months progressive page challenge. I chose a solid accent strip, because I still want the primary focus to be the photo.

MSC#1 - Beach Fun

This is for my mini album that I am doing of the first year of my granddaughter's life. The album will be for my mom on Mother's Day. This is her first great grandchild.

This layout is also for this months first Stashbusters challenge... I choose option B. The white space around the large photo is where my journaling will go.

WOYWW #299 - Sorting Scraps

This morning I woke up totally full of energy and yet feeling lazy at the same time... I had three things on my agenda: 1- finish cleaning and re-organizing my spare bedrooms from two sets of kids moving out and waiting for another set to move in this weekend. 2- to use my "What's on my Workdesk" challenge time sort all my scraps and to create my layout for "Throwback Thursday" tomorrow and 3- make Marty's Valentine Cinnamon Rolls. Even though I cleared my list, I become a whiner... Thus the need for a "Calgone" moment...

WOYWW#298 - Still Sulking!

My poor desk has seen better days, spent time unpacking more craft boxes, so as you can see for this week"s "What's on your Workdesk" photo reflects that and the fact that I am still being sulky about not being able to go be with the princess for her birthday.

I fell in love with the color combo found in the inspirational challenge this month, so here is my Valentine take on the whole affair... :)

WOYWW#274 - Inspirational Backpacks

Today, finds me still in a state of recuperation from being in Utah for the past couple of weeks for family stuff and my grandmother's funeral. With a semi-clean work space and a lot of gratitude in my heart for the huge inspiration and influence that my grandmother had in my life, I was looking for something fun to share with my friends, I came a crossed some really cute little backpack with mini albums featured at Graphic 45.  I decided they would make some fun little gift bags for the ladies that I visit this month. Our theme this month is..."The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ: Comforter" and I thought it would be fun to fill the little backpacks with small inspirational words of wisdom that my ladies could pull out and read as the month goes along.

Make-Over Monday... "Back to School" Snack Mix

Fall is in the air and today is the last big summer type holiday here at the beach. Having been a Teacher for many years and now finding myself with a lot of spare time on the computer I have discovered that I want to munch more, therefore I gain weight fast. So, I thought for today to kickoff our new Annie's Pantry format, we would start out with a fun, new, healthy, "Back to School" snack that is great for all ages. I love this snack both from a teacher and a snacker's point of view. It is very low-cal and totally nut free, its a great snack for the whole family and can be safely taken into the classroom.

Quick & Easy Snack Mix
 Makes:16 (1/2-cup) servings

4 cups air popped popcorn
1 cup raisin bran
2 cups TEDDY GRAHAMS Graham Snacks, any flavor
1 cup diced dried fruit mix (We like the tropical mix)
MIX all ingredients in large bowl.
Store in airtight container or ziplock bag.

Please feel free to share your Family's favorite "Back to school snack". And to add a little fun for the day...I
challenge you to find inspiration in the colors of your snack and create a "Labor Day" Card to share. When I think of Labor day I think about all the hard working people in the world around me. Today, I was challenged to use an animal in my Labor Day card, so I choose the Elephant!
