CAS369 - Lucky Birthday

Just had to make-over a few lucky charms as part of our "try a new Technique" challenge. When you use a die cut piece or parts of one as your focal point, try setting it against a solid white background to help make it pop.

WOYWW # 344 - Snowman Soup

I am so excited that with the coming of the new year I will have more time to spend at my Workdesk.

Today...

It took me most of the day to clear the Snowman Soup off my work desk.... I used the color combo challenge (CC564) that was posted on Splitcoast stampers yesterday. These make great hostess gifts or booking incentives. I am going to be using my as my visiting teaching treats for this month. Along with the card tag you will find a bag of goodies which consists of a hot chocolate package, a candy cane and a few marshmallows.

BOM 365 - Day 1 - ME!

This year I have decided that I wanted to mess around with a few new mixed media techniques and Art Journaling. I decided that making bookmark cards for the "Book of Mormon 365 Challenge" would be a good avenue for this So... I give you my first card.

Candy Boxes

Today you can find the last of my altered craft projects on my workdesk... These are my candy boxes for my homemade chocolates. After spending the week getting all blinged up for the holidays and finishing up all the baked goodies, candy and chocolates, I discovered that I am not as young as I use to be and I ran out of crafting energy really early in the week.

SO my boxes are very simple and plain this year which meets up with our family goal of keeping more of a natural and "CHRIST" centered Christmas, to reflect our Grand Canyon surroundings and our growing love for our new native friends who love and respect the land and all that their Father in Heaven blesses them with.

CC533 - Passing Judgement

Have you ever had one of those AHAW moments while studying either the scriptures or class notes, that your mind just opens up to a wonderment of verbal clarity. Every once in a while mine does and if I am lucky I have a piece of paper and pen in the same place at the same time, so that I can jot down my thoughts and inspirational message.
My "Monday Makeover" inspirational card is the recipient of my Sunday thoughts while reading some of the parables in Mathew.

WOYWW #312 - Celebrating with a ATC Swap!

I love a good celebration, does not matter how large or small, I just love to celebrate! And I can't believe that our little group is celebrating another year milestone.... :)

HAPPY 6th ANNIVERSARY
to Julia & the Gang!

In celebrating what's on our workdesk today we are having a little ATC swap. I am so excited, I love Artist Teading Cards (ATCs). These little gems are a great way of using up all those left over scraps, so you don't go through the age old crafter's guilt of  "Oh MY Gosh! I threw away the scraps..." Plus, I use my ATCs as gift tags and little RAC notes. My featured ATCs can be found below and if you are interested in swapping with me, please let me know.

                                  I LOVE SWAPPING!!!!!!

My desk today is filled with lots of inspirational and scripture intended Art Journaling tidbits, plus my mess from my May VSBN Social Hour. I have been scrapbooking this month more than I have been crafting or stamping, because I have been helping take care of my mom at her house. So my desk is filling with lots of leftover stuff.

If you are interested in joining our little group please check in with Julia for details at Stamping Ground

May VSBN - Super Saturday 1

Our first Challenge for our May VSBN was to scrap-lift one of my favorite digi-scrappers, Wendy. So in honor of all the hard work she does to sharing the digi world with us, I created my page as a digi page and the layout of her's that I cased can be found here

This was the second challenge for VSBN and it was an inspirational challenge. I really liked how the bold bright colors of the crayons stood out against the black background and I also like how the tips of the crayons and how they all point to the same direction to help create a focal point. So on my layout you can find bold colors mixed in with black and also points that bring your attention to the focal point of my page.

Our third challenge was designed to be a four picture sketch challenge and I only had three pictures of each boy. So my pages may not count for this challenge, but I really enjoyed using the Simply Scrappin' Kit. It has been awhile since I totally scrapped from a kit.

I loved the openness of our fourth challenge. It was fun to be able to be creative with all the spring colors. This layout was a CASE that I came a crossed in an old SU! Catalog.

Art Journaling... My Start!

MY fascination with "ART JOURNALING" started back in January while I spent the month recovering from the start of CHF... I didn't have anything better to do, I guess. (Lol)
Anyway, after discovering an awesome online magazine entitled "heART JOURNALING" is discovered a deep seeded interest to peruse this avenue of art, thinking how hard can this be? I love to write, I have been an off and on journal keeper since high school, I live for family histories and as any of my close crafting and scrapbooking friends can tell you, I have failed the "12 step program for Paperahololics" (another lol) so many times that I now give motivational classes on how to craft, stamp and create your way into a balanced household.
So here we are five months later and my Art Journal as created a major "writer's /Artist block" for me! Not sure why, except I think that I am so afraid of it not being perfect, or the overwhelming feeling that I can't doodle the whole page full, that somewhere between my mind and my hands, I am caught up in the stage of the outcome....
But Today was the day that I made it past the glitches of mistakes and was able create a small tidbit of ART to make a..... (You guessed it! )..... a PAPER Card.

WOYWW #308 - Grandma's Desk

My "What's on my Workdesk" Wednesday's took on a whole new
meaning a couple of weeks ago when my hubby and I went to see his brother and pick up a few family things that have been in storage. To our wonderful surprise, his grandmother's desk was included among the things that were left to him. I fell in love with this desk the first time I saw it. I am so excited to add it to our memories....

Here is the scrapbook page I have been working on today.

Farm Colored Birthday

Our Teapot Tuesday Challenge was to create a card that reminded us of being down on the Farm. for me growing up and being down on the farm reminds me of all the rich fall colors and the beautiful wild daisies that grow in the fields and along the ditch banks.
I also used this card as my sample card for my Relief Society Personal Enrichment Class this evening.

Celebrating International PI day...

Always love a good excuse to celebrate with PIE... And every year we choose a new pie recipe to feature. This year we chose totally homemade WHITE CHOCOLATE SHAMROCK PIE. And of course it wouldn't be a celebration if you don't make a card to go with it....

You can find the recipe for the pie on our blog at www.thepantrylife.blogspot.com

Rockin' The Disney Boat - March's Progressive Page

Here is my take for March - Task 1

Note: Although dimensions stated are for a 12x12 page, feel free to make any size you prefer. We'll be using one photo for this layout.

-Start with a base paper (paper #1). It can be plain or have a light pattern.

-Add paper #2 (approx.6"x12") on top of base layer (paper #1). Offset it so it is about 2"-2 ½" up from bottom edge.

-Add a photo (approx. 4"x6") on upper left area of the page, that's mostly on paper #2, but overlaps up onto paper #1 a little. Mat the photo, making mat a bit larger than the photo (1/2"-3/4") and offset the mat a little to one side. (Don't forget shadows where applicable.)

Task 2 - This is my take on step 2 of this months progressive page challenge. I chose a solid accent strip, because I still want the primary focus to be the photo.
